Questions and answers
Why can't my bank app read the QR code on a Slovenian invoice?
Slovenian invoices carry a UPN QR code, a national standard that Slovenian banks read. Revolut, N26, Bunq and other EU banks read the European EPC QR code (SEPA). This site turns one into the other.
What is the difference between UPN QR and EPC QR?
Both hold the same payment details: recipient, IBAN, amount, reference and payment purpose. UPN QR is printed on the Slovenian UPN payment slip; EPC QR is the format for SEPA transfers that banks across the EU understand.
How do I pay an invoice?
- Open Scan and point the camera at the UPN QR code on the invoice, or pick a photo of it from the gallery.
- A page with the EPC QR code opens.
- In your bank app choose to pay with a QR code and scan the code from the screen. Only one phone? Download the EPC QR code and pick the picture in the bank app, if it can read a code from a picture.
Which banks does it work with?
Revolut, N26 and Bunq read the EPC QR code. Other banks that pay by EPC QR code should work too.
Wise reads payment QR codes, but not UPN QR or EPC QR yet. So scan the code, download the UPN invoice as PDF and upload this PDF in the Wise app: Wise takes all the payment details from it.
Why does the code say €0.01?
The invoice has no amount, and Revolut does not accept a payment code without one. So the EPC QR code contains €0.01: change it to the right amount in your bank app before paying.
The camera does not open or does not read the code
Allow camera access in the browser settings. Keep the invoice flat and well lit, turn on the flashlight if it is dark, and move closer so the code fills a good part of the screen. Or take a photo of the code and pick it with From gallery.
How do I make a QR code for my own invoice?
Open Create. The short EPC Form gives an EPC QR code. The Full UPN Form has all the fields of the UPN slip and also gives the UPN QR code and the UPN invoice as PDF. Download them or share the link.
How do I share a payment?
Every code has its own link: copy it or send it to a messenger, the preview shows the amount and the recipient. Anyone with the link can open the payment; search engines do not show these pages.
Can I change a code after it is made?
No, a code that has been made never changes. When you correct the details, you get a new code with a new link, and the old link keeps showing the old details.
Can I put the site on my phone's home screen?
Yes. On Android choose Install app or Add to Home screen in the browser menu; on iPhone tap Share and Add to Home Screen. The site then opens like an app.
Is it free?
Yes, it is free.
